Our Interview With Heather Ledeboer

Celebrate Motherhood had the pleasure of interviewing Heather Ledeboer, a mom of four who owns her own business, works from home, and is an inspiration to us all.

C M: Can you tell us a little bit about your business?

Heather: I would love to! :) www.Mom4Life.com is a retail website that sells uber awesome stuff for moms and their little ones.

The thing that makes us extra special is that all the items we offer are mom invented AND we have free shipping throughout the US.

You can read more about us on our about us page as well as see photos of my family and staff and see a YouTube video that we made just for fun!

C M: How did you get started?

Heather: Well to be honest, when my first son was born I was amazed by how much sleeping he did! Here I thought I was going to be SO busy with taking care of him and instead he just looked adorable while resting all day! I figured I could be doing something with all my extra time and together with my husband decided that starting something online would give me flexibility and freedom. Funny thing is, my son didn’t keep sleeping like that for very long ;). . .

C M: What has been your proudest moment?

Heather Ledeboer: I will assume that you mean my proudest moment in business because you don’t have enough room here for me to brag on my kids:). I was very honored the first time Mom 4 Life won the Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine Reader’s Choice Award for the “Best Online Baby Boutique.” We were up against Babies R Us that year so it made it even more exciting to win! The second year we won was also a total thrill.

This year we are in the running again and it is only because of our amazingly supportive customers that we have gotten where we are today.

C M: How about your biggest challenge?

Heather Ledeboer: Balancing motherhood while running a business is hands down the most difficult part. Exactly how well I am doing in that area has varied from time to time.

Right now I have a pretty good schedule that is working well for our family and I am SUPER BLESSED that my husband also works from home. Together we are a pretty unstoppable team!

C M: Many women these days are choosing to work from home. Can you give them any suggestions on how to balance work and family life, all under the same roof?

Heather: (He He, I answered the question above before reading this one). Yes I do actually! I wrote an article on this topic called Three Steps to Cutting the Umbilical Cord on your Business that I think you might enjoy.

C M: What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Heather: Wow that is a hard question to answer. There are so many amazing blessings in motherhood, but I really love the challenge of being intentional about the way we face our day together and seeing the fruit of our labor as we (as parents) seek to be consistent in our love and discipline.

C M: What inspires you and why?

Heather Ledeboer: I am inspired by the realization that our time here on earth is very temporary. Therefore, I want to focus my attention on the things that will yield the biggest, most fruitful and lasting results.

C M: Do you have any advice for moms trying to break into the business world or start their own company?

Heather: Yes I do, I have an article on my website that outlines some thoughts, ideas and good resources to hopefully get people pointed in the right direction: http://www.mom4life.com

A BIG thank you to Heather Ledeboer, for this interview as well as for being a great example for moms everywhere. You really can have it all, and I personally am very encouraged and inspired by the way you not only run your business, but live your life as well.
